REVIEW: Queen of His Heart by Adrianne Byrd

Queen of His HeartQueen of His Heart by Adrianne Byrd
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I'm usually very picky about my "romance novel" books and I chose this one because of the modern subject matter, the story of a TV producer who creates a reality show and falls in love with the star of the show. I enjoyed the book, it was a quick read. The sex scenes are very descriptive and borderline on erotica writing, sometimes a little unneccary and I was quite disappointed in the end, as I usually am in most books I read. But, the book was good overall. I also think this book would make for a great Lifetime, BET, or TV One feature film. It's very modern and current. I'm thinking of exploring more Arabesque novels, particularly those with an African American theme.

Book Review: No Better Time by Sheila Williams

It was an okay book, not the most well written book. It was however, a great historical fiction depiction of the role Black women played in the U.S. military, specifically the Six Triple Eight unit. And I appreciate learning that the Negro WACs was a program that Mary McLeod Bethune proposed and had a big influence in.

REVIEW: The Woman I Kept To Myself by Julia Alvarez

The Woman I Kept to Myself by Julia Alvarez My rating: 5 of 5 stars I love the poetry of Julia Alvarez. She is, to me, very much a prose poet, which is what people say about my own personal poetry. She is great. I hope to read more of her books soon. View all my reviews
